Load Balancing
This guy right here is a real pain! Fortunately, this will hopefully be the last time we need to have this large of a downtime. Anyways, let’s get into the basics of what Load Balancing gives us access to.
Load Balancing is the process of distributing an amount of “tasks” over a set of resources. This will help alleviate stress from specific servers and make our services easily expandable.
Perks of Load Balancing:
Adventure Overhaul
We’ve decided during this time to make adventures feel more complete. We spent weeks discussing ways to improve adventure and the overall feel, here’s what we’ve done:
Landmarks:
Armor Overhaul
Time to talk about the fun stuff! Armor in 2.0 felt very bland and we wanted to make it feel more customizable. We’ve completely overhauled everything for armor.

New Enchants
What’s to hate about some new enchants?
Alignment Changes
We’ve had a split in the community about how lawful, neutral, and chaotic players should be aligned. We believe this would be the best solution for fixing this issue.
Economy Changes
The economy has had an entire overhaul to make getting money slightly more challenging. Here’s what we’ve changed.

Wordle
Ever feel like you want to take a break from all the PvP, Island, and Adventure craziness? Well, now you can! Introducing Midnight Wordle!
Payouts
Ah yes, our favorite thing at the end of seasons… payouts! Payouts are more of a “Thank You” to our players who stick with us till the end, and bring the true MidnightSky spirit.
Island Top:
We know there were a lot of naughty players last season, might as well give them a second chance. We’ve unbanned all players except for players who have chargebacked from MidnightSky.

- Flexibility in Expansion
- The codebase is more Robust (Due to a complete restructure)
- Better Performance
- Little to no TPS drops.
Adventure Overhaul
We’ve decided during this time to make adventures feel more complete. We spent weeks discussing ways to improve adventure and the overall feel, here’s what we’ve done:
Landmarks:
- Landmarks are places in the adventure map where you can fight mobs that drop very specific loot.
- This was added to help remove the “RNG” aspect of getting loot. If you want spawners, you can go to one of the landmarks that specialize in that type of loot.
- Each of these landmarks has its very own Mini-Boss.
- Landmark Mini-Bosses are a mob that spawns randomly on a player after killing a landmark mob.
- These bosses will have a chance to drop specialized armor sets (Ex: Lifesteal Axe, DPS Scythe, Mend Wand, Item Find Chestplate, etc)
- A title will notify you that you’ve spawned a boss.
- These bosses will have a 10-second item pickup time for the player that spawned in the boss, but after 10 seconds any player will be able to pick up the item.
- We’ve decided to let players have their very own dedicated CHAOTIC adventures.
- To enter a Chaos Adventure, run the /adventure command, and click on “Chaotic Adventure” you’d like to TP to.
- This ENTIRE adventure will be Chaotic.
- You will have a 15-second grace period as a lawful before you’ll turn chaotic permanently in that adventure.
- During the grace period, you can instantly TP out using /spawn
- Adventurers in the Chaotic Adventure will obtain the Chaotic Buffs and an additional +5% Item Luck.
- Be warned, these adventure mobs are much healthier, much stronger, and have lower drop chances (Armor & Weapons ONLY).
- Armor Sets will have a +15% overall stat increase. To indicate if an armor set was obtained in Chaos Adventures, the Lore of an armor set will have obfuscation around the name of the armor piece (As the picture below shows).
- Having Chaotic Adventures means the main adventure will be predominantly lawful, with some partial neutral areas, to give everyone a fair chance of obtaining items.
- There will only be ONE chaotic adventure.
- We felt that the hunger bar needed use, so we've made it directly linked with your mend stat (Natural Regeneration).
- If your hunger bar is full, your mend stat will be working at 100% efficiency. If your hunger bar is at half, your mend stat will be working at 50% efficiency.
- You can apply enchants, skins, or eat food to increase your hunger bar.
- Adventure Chests will now have “tiered chests”. Tiered chests are chests that contain types of loot depending on the tier you obtain.
- Depending on the tier of the chest, there will be mobs scaling in difficulty that protect the chest
- Tiered Chest Mobs will be the only mobs that drop Chest Shards (Now called Chest Summons)
- Below you can see what each tier of the chest provides using the table.
Chest Tier | Chest Types in Tier |
Tier 1 |
|
Tier 2 |
|
Tier 3 |
|
Tier 4 |
|
Tier 5 |
|
- Armor Sets
- Adventure mobs
- Killing specific types of mobs will give you different types of armor.
- Ex: You can kill a “Tank Bandit” and obtain “Tank Armor” which will most likely (using context clues) give more defensive stats.
- Armor will now be attainable through the following:
- Adventure mobs
- General Loot
- All mobs will give their own type of loot, if you want to grind toward a specific goal, you can fight those mobs.
- You can access all types of adventure drops using /adventure drops
Armor Overhaul
Time to talk about the fun stuff! Armor in 2.0 felt very bland and we wanted to make it feel more customizable. We’ve completely overhauled everything for armor.
Stats:
- Health: Increases the health of a player.
- Fortification: Reduces the total damage taken by an attack.
- Damage: Increases the amount of damage you deal to an opponent.
- Strength: Amplifies the amount of damage you deal to an opponent.
- Attack Speed: Increases your attack speed to swing faster against an opponent.
- Pierce: Chance to deal damage through a player’s fortification.
- Critical Damage: Amplifies the damage you deal to an opponent by a %.
- Critical Chance: % Chance to deal critical damage.
- Evade: % chance to evade an attack.
- Mend: Increased passive healing.
- Greed: Increase the amount you get from adventure mob cash.
- Item Luck: Increase the chance of getting an item from a mob.
Armor Augment:
- The armor augment is an item that is used to increase a random stat on a piece of armor or weapon.
- There are 5 tiers of armor augments.
- Tier I: 5% stat increase
- Tier II: 10% stat increase
- Tier III: 15% stat increase
- Tier IV: 20% stat increase
- Tier V: 25% stat increase
- You can apply this augment by right/left clicking on an armor piece.
- You can apply multiple augments, but you will only be able to increase 1 stat at any given time.
- Lore will auto-update with the augment applied
- A chat message will be sent with what stat was increased when the augment is applied.
Stat Reroll Scroll:
- The Stat Reroll Scroll is an item that can be used to re-randomize your armor set stats.
- You can apply the stat Reroll scroll by right/left clicking on an armor piece or weapon.
Sockets:
- The socket has been reworked. Instead of the generic +1 through + 5 sockets, sockets now have a rarity and a chance to apply.
- Rarities for sockets will be Uncommon, Elite, Ultimate, Legendary, and Boss.
- You can apply ONE socket rarity per armor piece (Ex: If you have a Legendary Socket on a pickaxe, you cannot apply another legendary socket)
- Gems will be applied depending on the rarity of the socket on the armor. (Ex: If an armor piece has a legendary socket on it, only a legendary enchant can be applied to it.)
- Sockets will have a chance to apply, which will be indicated on the name of the socket.
Stat Purity:
- For randomized armor/weapon stats (Obtained via adventure mobs), You can check the “purity” of the armor piece (Located in the lore of the armor).
- Purity is how close the stat is to a completely perfect stat roll.
- To understand how the calculation works, let’s say an armor piece has the randomization of 10 strength and 15 strength (Inclusive), and your armor managed to get 13 strength. There is a difference of 5 strength (15-10 = 5), and you got 3 above the minimum (3 - 10). You would now divide as such ((Above Minimum / Difference) * 100). In this case, it would be ((⅗) * 100) which is 60% purity. There exists 1 exception: when the difference is 0, purity is set as 100%.
- How to calculate Purity
- Durability is now re-implemented into adventure & islands.
- You can repair your items by drag n’ dropping “repair scrolls” onto the armor.
- Armor/Weapons will never fully break, however when your durability reaches 0, you will be sent a message that your item is broken, and your item will no longer work.
- Repair scrolls are obtainable from adventures, /enchanter, /slots, and other methods.
- Armor & Weapons will now have rarities attached to them.
- Rarities will be as such: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary
- The higher the tier, the rarer it is to obtain.
- Custom weapons are weapons that have special abilities, and stats.
- Custom weapons are attainable by killing adventure mobs and crafting.
- Due to the new changes, vanilla enchants are removed (Protection, Unbreaking, Sharpness, etc)
Bow Enchants
Swords and Axes are getting boring, let’s add bows into the mix.
- Death Shot (Boss): Chance to mark a player with “Death”. Death will make you take increased damage from all sources.
- Barrage (Legendary): Deal more damage to players when hit consecutively. If you are hit, or the player is not hit within 5 seconds, your multiplier ends.
- Scoped (Legendary): Chance the arrow will lock on the player
- Sniper (Elite): Chance to deal more damage to players
- Drag (Ultimate): Chance to drag the player towards you
- Triple Shot (Ultimate): Chance to shoot 3 arrows
Pickaxes and hoes need more usage, so we’ve decided to add some enchants to them.
- Pickaxe
- Shatter (Boss): Chance to “shatter” (break blocks) in a 3x3 area.
- Node Finder (Boss): Chance to get a node
- Frag Finder (Legendary): Chance to get a node fragment
- Gem Finder (Legendary): Chance to get a gem
- Ore Magnet (Ultimate): Chance to get more drops
- Haste (Elite): Chance to get haste
- XP Discovery (Uncommon): Chance to get more island XP
- Hoe
- Reap: Chance to get 2x /is farming drops
- Transplant: Chance to replenish the crop you were farming
- Purify: Chance to get more island XP
New Enchants
What’s to hate about some new enchants?
- Rebuttal (Ultimate Sword Enchant): Deal more damage to players holding a sword
- Reflect (Elite Armor Enchant): Chance to reflect incoming damage.
- Metaphysical (Elite Armor Enchant): Chance to remove slowness debuff.
Alignment Changes
We’ve had a split in the community about how lawful, neutral, and chaotic players should be aligned. We believe this would be the best solution for fixing this issue.
- /alignments
- You can now change your alignment by running /alignments.
- This will only be accessible in NON-CHAOTIC areas
- If you are in combat, you cannot access this command
- Timers have been extended to 10 mins instead of 5 mins for alignment decay (Chaotic -> 10 minutes -> Neutral -> 10 minutes -> Lawful)
- Conversion Times
- Chaotic → Lawful (1 Minute)
- Neutral → Lawful (1 Minute)
- Chaotic → Neutral (45 Seconds)
- Lawful → Neutral (Instant)
- Lawful → Chaotic (Instant)
- Neutral → Chaotic (Instant)
- Alignment Changes (Loot Buffs)
- Lawful: None
- Neutral: +5% Item Find, +2.5% Damage to Mobs
- Chaotic: +15% Item FInd, +5% Damage to Mobs
- Alignment Changes (Functionality)
- Lawful:
- Players do not lose drops upon death
- Players do not take, or deal damage to other players
- Neutral:
- Players drop everything upon death except EQUIPPED armor, and the EQUIPPED weapon.
- An equipped weapon/armor piece would be an item in your hand or a worn item.
- If you have a bow and weapon in your hand, and you die neutral with the bow in your hand, the sword will drop, vice versa.
- Chaotic:
- Everything is dropped upon death
- Lawful:

Permission Blocks
Due to high demand, we’ve added permission blocks!
Permission Blocks:
- Permission blocks are blocks that can be placed on islands to restrict a region with specific permissions.
- Permission blocks have a global and private setting.
- Global can be used to let every player access a specific permission
- Private can be used to let a specific player access a specific permission.
- To place a permission block, you must be a co-leader of that island
- To destroy a permission block, you must use a pickaxe and be a co-leader of that island.

Last season, players were fine with bosses but underwhelmed. This season, we will try our hardest to hit that perfect boss experience.
- Boss Changes:
- Boss Abilities will have a cooldown (To prevent ability spam)

- Quest Costs have been increased
- Quests CANNOT be accessed in chaotic adventures
- Quest Rerolls can be used to reroll loot from slain quest bosses.

/island levelcap:
- The levelcap is a way to keep the playing field fair for all players.
- Island Level Cap Unlocks can be found HERE
Slaying with a normal sword… How boring! Instead, we decided to spice it up a little bit. Introducing island weapons!
Island Weapons:
- Island Weapons are the only way for players to slay island mobs
- There are 2 types of island weapons
- Normal: Used to 1 shot mobs
- Perk: After a specific amount of kills, you’ll gain perks on the weapon.
- All normal island weapons can be purchased in the “island weapon” section of the shop.
- To obtain a perk island weapon, you will need to kill mobs previous to the mob you want (Ex: If you wanted a blaze sword you’d need to slay pigmen). They will drop “Island Weapon Infusions” which can be used to craft a Perk Sword.
Auto Sell Bot
You guys asked and we heard ya! Here’s a way to sell your items!
Auto Seller:
- The auto seller is an auto bot that sells items for you.
- The auto seller will require power (/is power) to function
- The auto seller money will go into the island bank (/is bank)
- Base Stats:
- Interval: 60s
- Items Sold Per Interval: 32
- Item Sell Price: 85% of the normal sell price
- You can increase the selling price by adding the “Bot Sell Increase Upgrade” into the bot.
AI/Machine Learning Integrations
Seeing how AI/Machine learning is taking over the world, we believe it’s time to add both to MidnightSky.
Automatic Chat Moderation
- We’ve implemented a moderation model that currently has a 95% accuracy rate of finding bad words (on the training test set).
- At the start of the season, the model will be a little sensitive as it was not trained on real Minecraft chat messages, if you see any inconsistencies or flaws, please report it (this is mainly a message for staff).
- /a create <name> will now be filtered
- Alliance Chat itself will not be moderated.
Last season, kits were quite 1 dimensional, we’ve decided to add some variety to kits.
Island Kit:
- Island Kits will give you money and spawners depending on the island level you are.
- This kit will be on a 24 hours cooldown.
- Island Kits are based on your PERSONAL island. They will not be based on other players' islands. Make sure to level up your own islands to get those sweet rewards!
- Starter Kit will be a kit for all new players.

Wordle
Ever feel like you want to take a break from all the PvP, Island, and Adventure craziness? Well, now you can! Introducing Midnight Wordle!
- Midnight Wordle is the game “Wordle”, but implemented into MidnightSky
- For those who are unfamiliar with Wordle, here’s what it’s about!
- You will be given 5 attempts to guess a random 5 letter word
- For each letter you input, you’ll be given a gray, yellow, or green colored letter.
- If you have a gray letter, it means the letter is not in the 5 letter word

- If you beat the wordle, you’ll be awarded with 1 MidnightSky Slot Scrap!
